EMOTIONAL SNEEZE

Okay, so imagine you're minding your own business, out in the world. Perhaps at line in a local coffee shop, buying up some sunrise caffeine in a cup. Or maybe, you're at work, sitting quietly at your desk. Either way, with your eyes closed, imagine the calm. You're just....chillin. Okay, wait, open your eyes, there's more to read. LOL
Where am I going with this? Well, there you are, in your own space, when BAM!!! Someone walks up and sneezes all over you. I mean alllll over you! A giant sneeze. (((gasp)))) Ewwww. Grossed out? Horrified? Do you feel violated? Now, replace the "sneeze" with "complaining." This is what it feels like to be an empath on the day to day.
It's social edict to greet a friend, stranger, co-worker, etc, with a smile, a quick hello, or often a "how ya doing today?" And most of the time, people can't wait tell you. In my experience, it's rarely positive and I can't help but almost always regret that verbal open door. Within minutes, I am being flooded with someone's problems, aliments, gripes, friendship wars, and financial concerns. Like, emotional boogers being blown all over my aura! I write this blog after a morning conversation with a fellow empath who describes her daily interactions in a similar manner.
Now, let us not confuse this word vomit outpouring of "poor me" with an actual request for advice. It is an honor to have one soul reach out to another soul seeking advice, guidance, and companionship. I TRULY cherish the moments that fellow ladies trust me with their deepest parts of them and invite me into their personal space, seeking healthy direction. I am grateful for every exchange. With that being said, there is a line between leaning on a friend, and simply complaining to hear yourself talk. When did complaints become common conversation? Imagine turning to a stranger in line at the post office and saying, "hey, how are you doing?" And instead of a response that includes all about their bad knee, you received an, "awesome! So grateful the sun is out today!"
Every word we speak sends out a vibration that travels around the planet, pinging off one another. I write this to politely remind others to be conscious of our every exchange. What vibe do you speak?

WHERE DO YOU RESIDE?

There is this place called "All-About-Me-Ville" and it's growing population is astounding. I should know, I was nestled there for years. I lived right on the corner of Self Ave. and Centered Drive. (LOL) Okay, so you see where i am going with today's blog. Here's the real deal - I moved out of that zone about a year ago. It took several steps for me to officially awaken and grasp the concept of what life would be like if I took a bow on the stage of lif e and allowed the spot light to shine onto someone else's performance for a while. Truth be told, it was the most freeing sensation I have ever experienced!!!! The irony today is that I run into individuals that still patrol those streets on the daily and I cannot help but bounce back and forth between dumbfounded and frustrated. Not sure if you're one of the residents? Or perhaps you wonder if you have crossed paths with a narcissist? Here is how you can tell: 1) Do you find yourself having to repeat...

CRICKET CRICKET

I love social media when it is used with positive intent. I only have a Facebook account, but it really does wonders for me, especially when it  comes to living far away from family. The photos, the story sharing, and the constant connecting that makes it all feel as if i am not that far away anymore. I even cherish all the little moments that can be captured along the journey of life. For example, I have had countless adventures out in the world where you just truly connect with someone. I've danced with a girl on a train into NYC, had a photo op with a teen on a ferry ride, slid down Sliding Rock with a fellow nature lover, and even took a hike with a father & daughter up in the mountains of Asheville. For me, I never have to flashback to a memory that mattered and think, "what ever happened to that person?" Because they are right here, continuing to cross paths with me thru our Facebook pages. What a lovely concept. Like, a permanent childhood pen-pal. This...
